Running in the morning with empty stomach?

Teammate: “Hey Aaron, we are up for a run tomorrow morning just to celebrate Easter Holiday and support Kevin’s race competition. Are you joining us?” Me: “Sigh…. 8am? I will try my best to make it.” I was debating should i accompany my teammate. End up i went, I woke up at 7:30am, didn’t have…

Teammate: “Hey Aaron, we are up for a run tomorrow morning just to celebrate Easter Holiday and support Kevin’s race competition. Are you joining us?”

Me: “Sigh…. 8am? I will try my best to make it.”

I was debating should i accompany my teammate. End up i went, I woke up at 7:30am, didn’t have any breakfast and took Uber to the meeting point.

Was it a right decision not to intake any food? I keep rethink about that during my run. I did a 12K run in total. The first few kilometers was fine. I did managed to keep up my normal pace. But after 3 – 4 K, i started to fall behind and made a stop for refueling with energy bar and electrolyte. Maybe the route was relatively new to me and it was steep? It’s amazing how Kevin can finish the 100 K race under the hot and humidity in HK!

It’s proven that exercising on empty stomach will burn 70% more body fat and slowing down calories intake for rest of the day. It also has positive effects in terms of dealing with spikes of blood sugar. The negative effect would be a drop of performance and more dedication is needed to keep up the habit.

Whoa! I made the right decisions. For those of you who wanted to lose weight, why not give it a fast before your next run? Let’s keep going, keep moving!
